North Bellarine Film Festival Opening NIGHT
18 Nov, 2022 6:30pm - 9:30pm



HIGHGROUND 
Opening night is a great opportunity to meet other like-minded art film lovers.
Start the night with finger food from Pier Street Café and a wine from the bar (drinks at bar prices) before moving to the theatre for the official opening and the screening of the 2020 Australian film, High Ground, directed by Stephen Maxwell Johnson and stars Simon Baker, Jacob Junior Nayinggul and Jack Thompson. 


High Ground is a gripping action story as well as sobering commentary on colonialism, High Ground is a vividly engrossing attempt to grapple with Australian history. The film is based on historical events that took place in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia just after World War 1.


The film premiered at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival in 2020, with the Australian premiere at the Brisbane International Film Festival later that year.


Includes entry to Short Films Saturday, 1pm 


 


North Bellarine Short Films

Short Films includes two sessions of curated Australian and International short films as well as a special screening of Barwon Manor, a locally made short film by Mia de Rauch. Mia will be present for the screening which will be followed by a Q&A session.


 


North Bellarine Film Festival Emerging Filmmakers Award

Saturday night is a highlight for young Victorian filmmakers with the screening of films made by the finalists in the Emerging Filmmakers Award and the announcement and presentation of the award to the winner.


Also includes entry to Short Films Saturday, 1pm.
