Event Description
Native Grassland Bus Tour - Geelong Nature Week

Experience Lara's native grasslands on a guided bus tour for Geelong Nature Week.

Join us as we visit 3 precious native grassland fragments managed by the City, and discover the endangered plants and animals that inhabit them.

On the tour, Dr Emily Scicluna from the University of Melbourne will be sharing her research journey into Fat-tailed Dunnarts, the last remaining small mammal in Victoria’s grasslands.  You'll find out more about the threats to our native grasslands and actions taken to save them from degradation.

Pack your lunch, your walking shoes and your curiousity.

Native grasslands are one of the most threatened vegetation communities in Victoria. It is estimated there is less than 1% of their original extent remaining. The City of Greater Geelong manages only a handful of reserves that support native grasslands.
